The Mystery Matrix Pizza eaters

continue to travel/ eat in the name of science for this second installment and to report our findings. The major corporate chains invest an average of $1-2 million a year with mystery shopper companies who continually visit, check and report their findings back to corporate headquarters for assessment in order to keep their product quality and service to the highest possible standards, and with suggestions to correct any problems they find.The smaller pizza operator is faced with the same challenges each and everyday, unfortunately their budgets don’t allow for a few thousand dollars to hire the services of a mystery shopper. But, the smaller operators can use friends and family to come in as mystery shoppers to help identify problems.Independent pizza operators have very little access to knowing whether their creations are a success or if the formulas of their pizzas are being duplicated to perfection by their staff. It is rare that an un-happy customer is going to call you if their pizza wasn’t cooked.  Most customers, if unhappy, just use their feet and go elsewhere, and usually tell another 10 people about the experience! In this issue of PMQ we are continuing this regular feature dedicated to the customer.

We have several pizza experts traveling continuously through out Australia, Asia and New Zealand. We are visiting three to six pizza joints grouped by services (e.g.: sit down, take out restaurants, by the slice, delivery only, online Web services etc.). The restaurants will remain anonymous in regards to the results and any positives or negatives.
