Hints on keeping the certifications costs to a reasonable level:

  • Make certain the gas fitter has checked the appliance is safe:
  • The appliance needs gas to be certifed and connected correctly - with the correct ventilation and compliant to AS5601
  • Make certain you supply all the information on the application, with pictures.
  • The gas fitter must be present for the certification, to alter or repair any non-compliances
  • The unit should be commissioned and operating before certification.
  • A list of components and approvals would assist the process and cut down the certification time.

You have imported some new gas equipment 6 burner range and gas fryer, the equipment has no gas approvals: The equipment needs to be either Type tested through the Australian Gas Association or SAI Global, this process will take approximately 3-6 months and will be a minimum cost of $2,000 per5 appliance not including the information required to achieve the approval. If you were to import more than 10-15 items, you would proceed through this process.

The next choice is 2nd Tier or safety approvals where we test each appliance and the cost is far less per item. As a QGA certifier we can arrange for this process easily and efficently with peace of mind. The process is normally completed within 2-3 days after application:

A gas fitter may check the QGA website to confirm if an appliance has been QGA certified This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
